The Loop Gap
concept
The space between awareness and action — where you watch yourself do the thing you said you wouldn't do. The gap is not a failure of intention; it is the natural distance between insight and pattern-level change.
The Loop Gap names the interval between recognising a familiar pattern and responding differently when it activates. It is not a separate mechanism, a diagnosis, or evidence that Recognition failed. It is the part of the map where the pattern is visible but its usual next response may still occur.
Within ANTLoops, Recognition reveals the Loop and may make Interruption possible. Interruption is the break in the usual sequence that creates the opportunity for an Alternative Response. Repeated alternative responses may contribute to a New Trail; none of these steps is guaranteed by insight alone. Explore the framework
